CPNZ Patroller Profiles aim to shine a spotlight on the range of talents amongst our Patrollers, letting them tell their own stories in their own words. Through this project, CPNZ aims to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of CPNZ Patrollers and draw attention to the wealth of talent amongst CPNZ’s ranks.
My name is Baptist Lobo and I am a member of the Mount Roskill Community Patrol in the Central West of Auckland. I’ve been living in this area since I arrived in New Zealand in September 2001.
I am married to my wife, Jennifer Lobo, and we have a son who is 33 years old. We are now blessed with two grandsons.
I am a qualified New Zealand Chartered Accountant and Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). I have my own boutique CA practice where I help my clients to understand Tax and Accounting matters and file their Tax returns. Most of my clients are local and from the Community.
I have a passion to be involved in the community and did not really have a chance to do much at the grass root level until this opportunity came to me. At one of my business meetings a fellow businessman, after finding out that I stay in the Mt. Roskill area, asked me whether I would be interested in joining Community Patrols and I immediately agreed. This decision to join the Mt. Roskill Community Patrol came from my desire to make a difference and keep the community safe.
I am also on the management boards for the following not for profit organisations as a volunteer:
- Toastmasters International D112 – Finance Manager
- Auckland Refugee Council Inc – Board Member
- Access Community Radio Auckland Inc – Board Member
- HBR Community Services Ltd – Board Member
As I am passionate about the community, I have taken the responsibility of keeping my community healthy. I organise and conduct exercises to Bollywood music every Saturday at 9 am at the New Lynn Community centre. I also run a community radio program on every Saturday between 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm on Planet FM 104.6
In my spare time, if I have any left, I go Ballroom Dancing. I also love Rock ‘N’ Roll music.
If you’d like to have your own story published as a Patroller Profile, please email communications@cpnz.org.nz and we’ll be happy to send you some more details.
